In 1972, Mike Hopkins bought his first motorcycle at 21. He raced at national level from 1974, winning the 1976 SA 500cc Motocross title, seven Western Province Motocross Championships and five Regional Enduro Championships before retiring after a back injury in 1987. He founded Mike Hopkins Motorcycles in 1978 - the oldest motorcycle shop in the Western Cape, still known for its dedication to the overall motorcycling experience.
Trac Mac started on 1 July 1982 as a tyre fitment centre - the first of its kind in Cape Town. In 2005, Kevin Spratley joined as a partner and we opened branches in Bellville and later Wynberg. With 30+ years' experience and three branches, we pride ourselves on being service-orientated, and have since expanded into online business with Merri Spratley leading that venture. Established in 1980 by Nibbs Cragg, Suzuki South grew into one of the country's most recognisable bike shops, later adding Kawasaki, Sym and Aeon to become Kawasaki South too. Since 2018, Justin Horne and Gavin Pike have carried the business forward, offering new and used bike sales, trade-ins and consignment, finance assistance, spares and accessories, tyres and fitments, servicing and repairs, insurance work, and an on-site dyno.
